How to set up IPTV on Kodi (PVR IPTV Simple Client)
Kodi plays IPTV through its free, built-in PVR IPTV Simple Client add-on. You point it at your M3U link or Xtream Codes login, add your EPG URL, and your channels show up in Kodi’s Live TV with a full guide. It works on Kodi anywhere — Fire Stick, Android, Windows, Mac. Here’s the setup.
Steps
- In Kodi, go to Settings → Add-ons → My add-ons → PVR clients.
- Open PVR IPTV Simple Client and choose Configure.
- Under General, set the location to Remote URL and paste your M3U playlist URL (or use the Xtream option where available).
- Under EPG Settings, paste your XMLTV EPG URL so the TV guide loads.
- Select Enable, return to the Kodi home screen and open TV / Live TV — your channels are there.

- Use Ethernet on whatever device runs Kodi — it beats Wi-Fi for live sport.
- Let the channels and EPG finish loading the first time before browsing.
- Prefer a simpler app? See our best IPTV app guide (TiviMate, IPTV Smarters).
Troubleshooting
- No channels: re-check the M3U/Xtream URL for typos, then disable and re-enable the add-on.
- No guide: confirm the EPG URL is correct and give it time to download.
- Buffering: see our buffering guide and speed guide.
Frequently asked questions
Can Kodi play IPTV?
Yes. Kodi plays IPTV through the free, built-in PVR IPTV Simple Client add-on: add your M3U link or Xtream login and an EPG URL, enable it, and your live channels appear in Kodi’s Live TV section with a full guide.
Is Kodi good for IPTV?
It works well and it’s free, but it’s more manual to set up than dedicated players like TiviMate or IPTV Smarters. If you want the simplest setup, one of those apps is easier; if you already use Kodi for everything, the add-on keeps it all in one place.
What EPG URL do I use in Kodi?
Your provider gives you an XMLTV EPG link. Paste it into the PVR IPTV Simple Client EPG settings so the TV guide fills in. We send you both the playlist/Xtream details and the EPG link.
