IPTV parental controls: locking channels and building a kids profile

IPTV parental controls come from the player app, not the subscription — TiviMate, IBO Player and Smarters Player Lite all let you PIN-lock adult categories, hide channel groups, and build a separate kids-only favourites list in a few minutes, at no extra cost.

Where the control actually sits
An IPTV subscription is just a channel list plus a player. The list has no idea who is watching, so restriction has to happen in the app that renders it. That is good news: it means parental controls are free, work the same on any plan, and don't require contacting support to change.

Locking the adult category with a PIN
- Open Settings → Parental Control (TiviMate) or the equivalent lock/PIN menu in your player.
- Set a 4-digit PIN that only you know — avoid the box's default remote-pairing code.
- Select the categories to lock — usually a group named "Adult", "XXX" or similar in the category list. Enable the lock for that group specifically.
- Test it by backing out to the home screen and trying to open the locked category — it should now prompt for the PIN before showing any channels.

Building a kids-only profile
A PIN lock hides one category; a kids profile flips the approach and shows only what's approved:
- Create a second profile or playlist — most players (TiviMate, Smarters) support multiple profiles under one login.
- Add channels to Favourites — kids' cartoons, family movies — and set that profile's home screen to show Favourites only, not the full guide.
- Lock the settings menu on that profile so a child can't switch back to the full list or change the PIN.
- Skip EPG browsing if your player allows disabling the search/guide screen for restricted profiles — it stops random channel-surfing outside the favourites list.
Favourites-only is the most reliable lock there is — a category a child never sees on screen doesn't need a PIN to stay hidden. The same trick works in reverse for anyone who wants a simpler remote: a favourites-only view with nothing extra to scroll past.
The realistic limits
A player PIN stops casual browsing, not a reinstall. A tech-savvy teenager can uninstall and reinstall the player, or install a second app entirely, bypassing any in-app lock. If that's a real concern, add a PIN at the device level (Fire Stick parental controls, Android app-install restrictions, or Smart TV app lock) so the player itself can't be removed or reinstalled without permission.
Does this cost anything extra?
No. Locks, favourites and profiles are player features, available regardless of which IPTV Nordisk plan you're on. Diamond gives three simultaneous screens — handy if the kids' TV and the living room run different profiles at once, and works well alongside an multi-connection setup — but the parental-control setup itself is identical across Silver, Gold and Diamond.
